Dear HES Families,

I want to provide an update regarding the gas odor that was reported near the Elementary campus yesterday. Atmos Energy was on site today and has resolved the issue. Atmos has confirmed that the area is safe, and all students and staff have remained safe throughout.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. We are committed to keeping families informed, and the safety of our students and staff will always remain our top priority.

Henrietta Elementary families,

Earlier today, a gas odor was reported near the Elementary campus. Out of caution, we immediately notified Atmos Energy and our maintenance team. Atmos Energy is currently on site and has advised that the situation is not dangerous. They are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

All students and staff are safe, and school operations are continuing as normal. However, out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff, outdoor recess will not be permitted until the affected meter has been replaced and Atmos Energy provides the all clear.

We will share another update if conditions change or once Atmos confirms the issue has been fully resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our school community. If you have any questions, please contact the elementary front office.

Sincerely,
Melissa Silva

Yesterday our Nurse , Kristen Elliott, was able to present to our 3rd grade students about the respiratory system. Teaching about the different body systems builds early health awareness and helps our students make a connection between healthy habits and body function. During the presentation, we had a wonderful student volunteer stand up and demonstrate rapid breathing through exercise. Getting this real life example encouraged curiosity about biology, anatomy and cause-and-effect in a way they understood. Learning about this body system gives our students appreciation for how fragile and amazing the human body is. It helps develop respect for their own health and empathy for others who may have breathing problems. They were able to empathize with their peers who have asthma and other respiratory conditions and learned some ways they can maintain their overall health and keep themselves healthy during the upcoming cold and flu season. Thank you Kristen for pouring knowledge into our students.
