Things for Parents to Know
Head Start, and grades Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth are served on our campus.
It is very important that your child arrive at school on time each day.
School begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Any student not in the classroom by
8:05 is considered tardy. Any student arriving after 8:05 must be signed-in by an adult in the office. When your child arrives late, he or she begins the day
“behind,” which can lead to frustration for him or her. Students are able
to receive rewards for perfect attendance, earn points for the Exemplary in All
Endeavors program, and most importantly, our school funding depends on high
student attendance.
Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten are dismissed at 2:45
p.m. Town students are dismissed at 3:30 p.m. and bus students at 3:40
p.m.
If your child is out of school, please contact the office by 8:30 a.m.,
so assignments can be arranged by the teacher. Please send a doctor’s
excuse or other note explaining the absence. Any absence without
written documentation will be considered unexcused. If your child is
sent home sick from school, please send a note to the school the
following day to excuse the absence. If you know that your child will
need to miss school for some reason, please notify your child’s teacher
and/or the office so a pre-arranged absence form can be completed.
Three or more tardies and/or absences in a 4-week period will
be reviewed by the attendance committee.
If you
need to pick your child up before regular dismissal please report to the
office to sign him/her out. The office staff will call for your child
from the office.
We
have one main entrance. In order to gain access to the school, visitors
must enter through the main entrance and sign-in at the office to
receive a visitor’s badge. Once visitors have been signed in, they will
be given access through our security door. All other exterior doors
will remain locked throughout the day. We are happy to have this
security measure in place to protect our students.
All
school personnel will be wearing badges to identify themselves. If you
do not have a visitor’s badge on, you will be asked to go back to the
office to receive one. Knowing who is on campus at all times helps us
protect your child’s safety. To minimize disruptions of instructional
time, only prearranged classroom visits are allowed during the school
day.
Student
lunches cost $2.75; adult lunches are $3.25. Lunch money can be sent
any day of the week. Each student is allowed to charge his/her lunch up
to 5 times before being served an alternative meal. Breakfasts are free
and are served in the classroom each morning.
We encourage all parents to meet with their child's homeroom teacher throughout the school year.
